Weight Control
Ok so lets cut through all the hocus-pocus that sometimes gets spouted. There is no magic cure for being overweight.

It probably didn't happen overnight (now that would be strange!) so to reduce weight is going to take more than one day or one session.

However, hypnosis can be a very powerful and effective tool in changing eating habits and also boosting the motivation for exercise. In the end what the body needs is fewer calories going in and more calories being burnt off. Combine those two and then the amazing transformation can begin!

So what happens?
Depending on the therapist and on the nature of the client's issues suggestive therapy may be used whilst in a hypnotic state i.e. " you feel fine about leaving food on your plate...you stop eating as soon as your stomach feels full".

Some therapists have been known to adopt an aversion strategy if a particular food is at issue, for example chocolate i.e. "You imagine the chocolate cake filled with slimy maggots...they're crawling over and through the fondant icing and into the sponge".

Where overeating is linked to the clients emotional state, for example loneliness, lack of confidence or similar, the therapist will normally work on both the food and the emotional issue.

Many therapists will insist that very obese clients get a medical check before doing any work with them. This helps to ensure that any hormonal, gland or other problems are picked and dealt with before the hypnotherapist starts work.

A word of caution; some therapists may try to block book sessions for weight control clients i.e. 6 sessions at xx price. Prospective clients should be wary of this practice as every client's needs are different and your therapy should be tailored to your requirements not the those of the therapist.
